Engineering Manager, Growth and Monetization

Calendly is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager for its Growth group who blends strong people leadership with technical execution, a product-driven mindset, and curiosity about how emerging AI technologies are reshaping software development. Partnering with the Growth group's Director of Engineering, you'll build a best-in-class scheduling experience, focused on Product Growth (activation, retention, onboarding, and monetization). You will mentor the team and help shape how AI technologies improve productivity and product delivery. Remote (US).

  • Hiring engineers to build out new and existing squads, with oversight on all team members hired onto the squad
  • Solving problems for millions of users, from local businesses to the largest enterprise customers
  • Driving initiatives that reimagine how the world meets
  • Coaching, mentoring, and onboarding new engineering team members
  • Ensuring the career development, satisfaction, and productivity of the engineers on your team
  • Identifying future technical needs and creating plans to meet them
  • Providing feedback and guidance to help the company continuously grow and scale
  • Driving the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices and shaping how emerging AI technologies improve team productivity, experimentation velocity, and product delivery

Elvárások

  • 5+ years experience managing a team of Software Engineers
  • 10+ years of overall development experience (Ruby on Rails preferred; other languages such as Python, Go, and PHP accepted)
  • Prior experience leading software development teams focused on Product Growth (Activation, Retention, Onboarding, Monetization)
  • Deep proficiency with web application development and SaaS
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools, agentic workflows, or AI-enabled engineering practices to improve delivery velocity, product quality, or engineering effectiveness
  • A thoughtful perspective on how AI is transforming software engineering (developer productivity, SDLC practices, experimentation velocity, team operating models)
  • Experience planning and leading development efforts on large projects
  • Previous experience leading and mentoring teams with consistent execution
  • Previous experience in a service-oriented architecture (bonus for migrating a monolith into services)
  • Excellent communicator who can succinctly explain deep technical concepts
  • Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies
  • Previous experience working within a balanced engineering and product team
  • Experience with MVC frameworks for backend development
  • Availability for participation in on-call rotation for business-critical alerts outside regular hours
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the USA (Calendly does not provide immigration sponsorship)

  • Tier 1 (San Francisco, San Jose, New York City) base salary range: USD 232,626 - 281,888
  • Tier 2 (Chicago, Austin, Denver, Boston, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle, Miami, and all other CA cities) range: USD 213,241 - 258,398
  • Tier 3 (all other locations) range: USD 193,855 - 234,907
